KAMLOOPS — Plenty of people and pooches came out for the SPCA’s annual ‘Paws for a Cause’ walk at Pioneer Park Saturday morning.

The fundraising event takes place in more than 20 communities.
Proceeds from the Kamloops event goes towards running the BC SPCA building on 8th Street.

This year’s event featured a ‘Market in the Park’ exhibit featuring local vendors that service pets and people in the community.

This year’s event also featured an exciting announcement.

The BC SPCA plans to go out for tender in the next few weeks on its new building that’s set to be built across the airport on Tranquille Road.

“We’re really excited to be moving, ” said Lisa Fuller, Manager of Community Development for the BC SPCA. “The new building is on about 2.2 acres and is about 10-thousand square feet. It will bring all the facilities together, the spray and neuter clinic as well as the shelter.”

The BC SPCA is selling calendars featuring dogs having fun with New Gold Fire and Mine Rescue members with all proceeds going towards the new building.

Calendars can be bought at the BC SPCA building on 8th Street as well as Home Depot, Red Collar Brewing, PetSmart and more.
