BC Liberal takes Speaker’s chair

Kamloops — A political twist as the legislature returns to session in Victoria today.

Abbotsford South Liberal MLA Daryl Plecas has accepted the role of Speaker – a role he said he wasn’t interested in earlier this year.

The defection gives the Green-backed NDP government a three-seat majority and more breathing room to pass legislation.

CFJC has reached out to local MLAs Todd Stone and Peter Milobar for reaction but has yet to hear back.
