No threat following derailment near Pemberton

PEMBERTON —  The Squamish-Lillooet Regional District says there is no threat to public safety following a five-car train derailment near Birken, about 30 kilometres northeast of Pemberton.

     The cars were carrying lumber when they toppled into Gates Lake at about 4 yesterday afternoon.

     The regional district says C-N Rail crews are responding.

     A cause of the derailment is under investigation.
