Blazers announce pre-season roster

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Blazers are down to 28 players left in camp following the annual Blue vs. White intrasquad game to conclude their 2017 Training Camp.

There are 17 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders left on the roster. 

Blazers’ first round pick in 2017 Josh Pillar is the lone 15-year-old that remains with the hockey club.

 

He is expected to play in the Blazers first WHL preseason game this Friday, September 1st versus the Victoria Royals at 7:00pm at the McArthur Island Sports Centre before heading home to Warman, Saskatchewan. 

The breakdown by age group includes three 20-year-olds, seven 19-year-olds, six 18-year-olds, eight 17-year-olds, three 16-year-olds and one 15-year-old on the roster. 

 

By region, the Blazers have 13 players from B.C., four from Alberta, eight from Saskatchewan, one from Manitoba, one from the Czech Republic and one from Switzerland.

The Blazers will have four players depart to NHL camps next week. Garrett Pilon will join the Washington Capitals, Ondrej Vala with the Dallas Stars, Dylan Ferguson with the Las Vegas Golden Knights and Luc Smith will go on a free agent basis with the New York Rangers.
