Blazers short camp ends, coach impressed with import Sigrist

KAMLOOPS — Blazers training camp has wrapped up and now it’s trim time.

Forty-one players will be kept for tomorrow nights Blue-White game — after that more cuts, with the remaining 15-year olds sent back to their minor hockey teams.

It used to be that training camps were big in numbers and lasted two or three weeks.

Not anymore —- this camp consisted of two days for the rookies and two more for main camp.

Don Hay says “you really want to get your team formed as quick as you can, and guys have to get home, get to school and get to their club teams.”

Hay is impressed with the Blazers 2017 CHL import draft pick Justin Sigrist.

Sigrist scored four goals in two days of main camp.

Hay says “he’s versatile, he understands the game, he has good hands and a good shot”, and thinks he’ll be a real good fit.
