KAMLOOPS — The wind has picked up in the BC Interior already, and it’s expected to remain strong from the southwest through tomorrow.

That may result in some marked fire growth over the next few days, according to the BC Wildfire Centre.

Chief Fire Information Officer Kevin Skrepnek says the wind may gust as high as 80 kilometres per hour in some areas.

“Given our current situation in the central part of the province, with fires already burning, this weather system is going to lead to increased activity and likely growths on a number of these fires,” said Skrepnek.
