WolfPack women’s soccer open pre-season with a loss

KAMLOOPS — It’s just days away from the start of another Canada West University sports season, starting with soccer.

The WolfPack men have four pre-season games under their belts, and are off to Oregon this week for three more before the start of the regular season August 25th in Prince George.

It will be another two weeks after that before the WolfPack women start the Canada West season on September 8th.

Today, less than a week into training camp, the WolfPack played their first exhibition game, and lost 3-0 to the PACWEST Capilano Blues.

The WolfPack will take a very young team into the season.

Head coach Kelly Shantz says of the 20 to 22 players they keep on the active roster, 15 or 16 will be brand new, with only one fourth year and two third year players.

Shantz says you never like to lose, but in today game the WolfPack accomplished what they wanted to do, running 25 players onto the roster, “mission accomplished today.
