Elephant Hill fire closes Highway One westbound between Cache Creek and Savona

SAVONA, B.C. — Highway 1 is closed westbound between Cache Creek and Savona. 

Fire officials says winds became strong overnight and there is heavy smoke and reduced visibility in the area.

The eastbound lanes remain open as of 4 p.m. Friday.

The Elephant Hill fire is now measuring at over 93-thousand hectares in size and there is increasing concern  it will continue to grow with heavy winds fanning the flames./
