Crews battling grass fire on East Shuswap Road

UPDATE: East Shuswap Road reopened at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

EARLIER:

KAMLOOPS — Fire crews are battling a grass fire on East Shuswap Road just past Sun Rivers. Fire crews were deployed earlier this afternoon when the blaze broke out.

No indication yet what caused the blaze, and fire crews were still on the scene at 5:30 PM.

RCMP have closed East Shuswap Road in both directions, and indications are the road will be closed for several hours.
