KAMLOOPS — Kamloops Fire Rescue personnel quickly drowned out a grass fire on Rose Hill Road this afternoon.

Crews were called to the fire at about 1:45 p.m., with smoke visible from several kilometres away.

Responding firefighters were able to douse the blaze before it spread toward nearby homes in Rose Hill.

While the official cause of the fire has not been determined, a member of KFR pointed out a cigarette butt lying at the fire’s point of origin.
