KAMLOOPS — Fortis BC says it has received at least 250 gas odour complaints from Kamloops last night and today, and it thinks it has pinpointed the problem.

Communications Advisor Nicole Bogdanovic says there is more odorant than usual in the gas system here.

“We do add an odorant into our system called mercaptan. That’s so people are aware if there is additional natural gas in their property,” said Bogdanovic.

But Bogdanovic says Fortis still wants to hear from people if they notice a smell, because the utility needs to investigate to ensure there is no leak.
