Police searching for Kamloops carjacking suspect

KAMLOOPS — RCMP are looking for a suspect after a frightening carjacking attempt in downtown Kamloops.

According to a release, a woman was getting out of her vehicle after parking it in the 900-block of St. Paul St., at about 9:25 a.m.

That’s when a man grabbed the keys from her hand and got into the driver’s seat.

The woman jumped into the back seat of the car and tried to call 911.

The man grabbed her by the arms and tried to pull her out, and when that didn’t work, he drove for a short distance before parking the car and taking off on foot.

The suspect is described as:

  • Race: Caucasian
  • Age: Mid 20’s
  • Height: 5’10 – 6’0
  • Hair: Light coloured, clean shaven
  • Build: Slender
  • Wearing: Ball cap, green and white shirt with horizontal stripes, long khaki shorts, and a shoulder bag.
