Head-on crash claims one life near Valemount, B.C.

VALEMOUNT, B.C. — One person has been killed in a two vehicle crash along Highway 5, 6 kilometres south of Tête Jaune Cache.  The crash occurred around 6:30 Tuesday morning.

Mounties say the initial investigation suggests the driver of a pickup truck was attempting to pass a semi-truck, when it collided head on with a southbound sedan. The driver of the sedan was killed.  The driver and the passenger in the pick up suffered no-life threatening injuries.

Police have not announced any charges at this point and have not released the names or the hometowns of those involved in the crash.
