Delays expected on the Coquihalla for the long weekend

HOPE, B.C. — The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is warning long weekend travellers to expect major delays on the Coquihalla Highway.

The delays will be caused by construction projects at two locations between Merritt and Hope.

Work is ongoing to expand the Box Canyon chain-up area 40 kilometres north of Hope.

Further to the north, resurfacing is taking place over four lanes on the Dry Gulch Bridge.

The ministry says, during the Canada Day long weekend, traffic volumes can hit 2,000 vehicles per hour.
