KAMLOOPS — CIty of Kamloops staff say the demolition of the former Kamloops Daily News building, and the construction of a surface parking lot will cost about $1.1 million.

At its regular meeting on Tuesday, council will be asked to award the demolition contract to Dakota Reclamators, for just under $500,000.

The remainder of the budget will cover design work, paving and landscaping, and contingency.

Staff believe demolition will take about 12 weeks, and the parking lot project will be finished in late fall.
