Voting efforts for new elementary school playground ramp up amid contest deadline

KAMLOOPS — With only a week left in the BCAA Play Here contest, voting efforts are ramping up for Marion Schilling Elementary parents and staff.

The top three B.C communities chosen in the voting contest will receive $100-thousand  to go towards their recreational space of choice.

A win would allow Marion Schilling to replace its 25-year-old playround with a new one.

Brandon Bell, a teacher at the school, says a lot has gone into garnering the support.

“Our schools PAC has done a tremendous job going to high-visible corners and putting up signs for drivers and passerbys to see,” said Bell. “We’ve been handing out flyers and newsletter items, so we’re trying to drum up support every which way possible. The deadline is next Sunday at 11:59 p.m. so we’re still a little nervous but excited to see the results.”

People 19 years and older can vote once a day on the BCAA website.

You can also submit one vote a day from various social media sites including Facebook and Twitter.

The contest closes June 18.
