KAMLOOPS — Dan Lambert is returning to the Western Hockey League as head coach of the Spokane Chiefs.

He replaces Don Nachbaur, who was let go after seven seasons as the Chiefs coach.

Lambert coached with the Buffalo Sabres the last two seasons —- first as an assistant in Buffalo and then as head coach of their farm team — before being fired May 26.

Prior to that Lambert had spent six seasons with the Kelowna Rockets —- the first five as an assistant coach and one as head coach, leading the Rockets to the Western League championship in 2015.
