KAMLOOPS — RCMP are investigating after someone brought pepper spray to a fight in downtown Kamloops last night.

Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says at about 6:00 p.m., two men were fighting outside the Dollarama store in Lansdowne Village when one used pepper spray on the other.

Both men took off in opposite directions, and investigators weren’t able to track them down.

Shelkie says an innocent bystander in the store had to be treated for residual pepper spray exposure.

She notes a consensual fight is not necessarily a criminal matter, but introducing pepper spray steps it up.

“Pepper spray is a prohibited weapon and discharging it in a public place where people could be injured, as one was yesterday, is something we want to look into, and make sure we take appropriate steps,” explained Shelkie.

One of the suspects is described as First Nations, with multiple tattoos and wearing camo pants.

The other man was white and wearing red shorts.

If you know anything about the suspects, call Kamloops RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
