Prolific offender arrested in Sun Peaks crime spree

SUN PEAKS —  Police have taken a 36 year old Kamloops prolific offender off the streets after a crime spree in Kamloops and Sun Peaks over the weekend.

In a news release, Staff Sergeant Doug Aird says rural RCMP were called to Sun Peaks Saturday about 4:00 AM for a suspicious person apparently canvassing the area.

A bandana found at the scene was similar to one worn by a man caught on surveillance footage in Kamloops earlier in the morning.

The man was seen getting into a vehicle and leaving.

Police weren't able to find the man, but starting about 10:00 AM, police got reports of a series of vehicle thefts in the Sun Peaks area. Saturday night,

The car was spotted at a local motel parking lot in Kamloops about 10:00 PM Saturday night..

It had been reported being stolen from Penticton.

The driver was arrested for driving while prohibited.

A search of the vehicle found much of the property stolen earlier from Sun Peaks.

The man faces a number of charges.
