Wolfpack baseball drop two in Lethbridge Saturday

LETHBRIDGE —  After dropping two games at home on Wednesday, the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Baseball team were back on the road on Saturday in Lethbridge against the first place Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs. The ‘Pack lost today against the Dawgs, losing 12-2 and 15-11. Both teams went back and forth in game two but the ‘Pack couldn’t complete the comeback.

Lefty and Stratford, Ontario natives Scott Wood started on the mound in game one. He threw 3+ innings, allowing 10 runs (one unearned) on 13 hits. Joe Siniscalchi (Burnaby, BC) came into the game in relief. He threw 3 and 2/3 innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and one walk. He struck out three batters.

Josh Hillis (Calgary, AB) and Blayne Halland (Kamloops, BC) each went 1-4 with a RBI. Ethan Mohan (Calgary, AB) went 2-3 with a double. Malik James (Toronto, ONT) and Taylor Van Ham (Medicine Hat, AB) each collected a hit and scored a run.

The WolfPack looked for a bounce back in game two by starting Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) on the mound. He tossed six innings, allowing 10 runs in 14 hits. He walked four batters and struck out three. Zach Chaba (Vancouver, BC) threw 1 1/3 innings in relief. He allowed four runs on six hits. Aaron Lemoine (Winnipeg, MB) walked the only batter he faced and he came around to score. Qwinn Nesplak (White Rock, BC) threw 2/3 of an inning, walking two and striking out one.

The ‘Pack’s offense was came alive in game two. Malik James went 4-5 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Josh Iannetti (Fort McMurray, AB) went 3-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Ethan Mohan and Blayne Halland each had two hits and two RBIs. One of Mohan’s hits was a triple. They each scored a run

as well. Vance Fode (Bow Island, AB) went 2-4 with three runs scored. Yutaro Takasaki (Japan) also collected a RBI. He went 1-4 with a run scored as well.

The WolfPack have now lost four in a row but will look to get back to their winning ways on Sunday. They finish their weekend series against PBA with a doubleheader. Game times are 1pm and 4pm in Lethbridge.
