KAMLOOPS — The third annual’ Meet a Machine’ fundraiser took place Saturday afternoon in Kamloops.

The event is put on by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in an effort to raise money for juvenile Type-1 diabetes which affects both kids and adults.

This year’s event featured a variety of machines for kids to see and touch including an early 1900’s gas-fired washing machine and corn husker equipment supplied by the Shuswap Pioneer Club.

A car crusher, supplied by Richmond Steel, proved to be the most popular attraction once again.

With last year’s event raising $14,000, Organizer Jim Moorhead says the event is a win-win.

“It’s our goal to do as much as we can,” said Moorhead. “The entertainment and the machinery, you’re getting the kids out and watching the kids have fun, but by default, you’re raising money for a great cause.”

Along with machines, this year’s event featured a dunk tank as well as helicopter rides for people to take part in for a price.
