WolfPack Drop Two Games Against PBA, 1-3 to Start Season

KAMLOOPS — The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Baseball team took a step backwards on Sunday, falling to 1-3 on the season. After splitting their doubleheader against the Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs on Saturday, they lost both games to PBA on Sunday. The scores were 7-0 and 13-3.

Lefty Scott Wood (Stratford, ONT) made his debut for the WolfPack, going seven innings. He allowed six runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks, while striking out five batters. Qwinn Nesplak (White Rock, BC) threw two innings in relief, allowing one run and striking out two batters.

Rookie Vance Fode (Bow Island, AB) continued his hot hitting to start the season by having the only two hits of the game for the WolfPack.

Moses Lake native Josh Snider also made his CCBC debut on the mound. He got the loss, tossing five innings, allowing 10 runs (seven earned) on nine hits and three walks. Zach Chaba (Vancouver, BC) threw one inning in which three unearned runs came around to score. Duncan Elgert (Calgary, AB) also threw an inning, striking out a batter.

After a bit of a slow start through three games, Ethan Mohan (Calgary, AB) had his best game of the weekend offensively, getting on base all four times. He went 2-2 with a triple, a RBI, two walks and two stolen bases. Josh Hillis (Calgary, AB) also had two hits as he went 2-4 with two runs scored. Blayne Halland (Kamloops, BC) went 1-3 with a run scored and a walk. Taylor Van Ham (Medicine Hat, AB) also had a base hit. Greg Labranche (Maple Ridge, BC) brought in a run on a groundout.

The WolfPack will have a good week of practice and prepare for the Okanagan College Coyotes. They will take on the Coyotes in Kelowna on Saturday, April 8th and in Kamloops at Norbrock Stadium on Sunday, April 9th. Game times for Saturday are 1pm and 3pm and 12pm and 2pm on Sunday.
