Court appearance for suspect in fatal hit-and-run delayed

KAMLOOPS — The court appearance of a man suspected of killing 16-year-old Jennifer Gatey in a hit-and-run last November has been delayed. 

41-year-old Jason Gourlay was originally scheduled to appear in Kamloops Provincial Court on Tuesday, March 7. However, that appearance has been adjourned to Thursday, March 9. 

Gourlay was arrested following a four month investigation into the death of Gatey. 

During that time RCMP were collecting evidence from the suspect’s vehicle.

Gourlay is charged with Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
