VICTORIA —  The man Premier Christy Clark appointed to represent B-C in softwood lumber talks with the U-S will soon travel to Washington to pitch on behalf of the province.

David Emerson will be in Ottawa today meeting with Canadian officials about collective strategies for getting a good deal.

The former federal cabinet minister is expected to head to Washington, D-C, later this week to participate meetings with American stakeholders, including representatives from the U-S National Association of Homebuilders and U-S senators.

B-C Forests Minister Steve Thomson says the meetings are aimed at making sure decision makers understand how B-C softwood lumber products help the American housing and construction sectors, and why a new deal is also in their best interests.
