Frozen February soon a distant memory

KAMLOOPS — Environment Canada is confirming what many in Kamloops already suspected: this month has been winterier than normal.

Forecaster Alyssa Charbonneau says February received more snow and colder temperatures than historical averages.

“The average mean temperature for the month was -3.3°C. Typical temperature for this month is actually 0.1°C, so when you are looking on average being three degrees colder than normal, that is significantly colder,” said Charbonneau. 

Kamloops Airport received 27.2 centimetres of snow this month, compared to a normal of eight centimetres.

Charbonneau notes temperatures are forecast to reach the high single digits this week, and though that may seem mild, it is actually quite close to normal for Kamloops at this time of year.
