Public pipeline talk scheduled for tonight in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Residents will get a chance tonight to find out more about Kinder Morgan’s pipeline expansion program and what it could mean to the area.

The meeting will run from 6:00 to 8:00 at the Coast Hotel.

Trans Mountain’s Lizette Parsons Bell says the meeting will be quite comprehensive.

“We will be sharing information on the key pipeline construction activities that will be taking place: local accommodation for workers, environmental protection, reclamation management for after construction, the direct economic benefit, including those specific to this area, and routing and next steps,” said Parson Bell. 

Parsons Bell says barring any court challenges to the pipeline project, work could start by the fall.

Council was told Tuesday that Kamloops will be home to a construction yard and a pipe storage area, which will require about 25 acres of land.

The company is looking at sites on the Tk’emlups reserve, close to both the railway and the highway.
