KAMLOOPS — Closing arguments in the civil suit launched by the Douglas Lake Cattle Company against the Nicola Valley Fish and Game Club officially wrapped up Friday in B.C Supreme Court.

The cattle company is suing the club for trespassing, in a legal battle over access to a pair of lakes near Merritt.

The main issues discussed throughout the four-week case were whether Stoney Lake Road, which leads to Stoney Lake and Minnie Lake, is public or private and which party has ownership to the fish in the lakes.

Supreme Court Justice Joel Groves is scheduled to visit the Douglas Lake Ranch the first week of May to gain a clearer picture of the legal argument.
