Man shot when police called to stabbing of woman in Surrey, B.C.: investigators

SURREY, B.C. — British Columbia’s police watchdog says an RCMP officer in Surrey shot a man who had been holding a knife.

The Independent Investigations Office says in a news release that police were called early Thursday morning to reports that a female had been stabbed.

It says police report that when officers arrived, they had an interaction with a man who was holding a knife and he was shot.

The injured man is in stable condition and the female is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
