Property assessment notices are in the mail

KAMLOOPS — The average price of a single family home in Kamloops has now eclipsed $400,000.

Property assessment notices will arrive in the mail for area homeowners in the next few days.

According to BC Assessment, the average Kamloops home is now valued at $408,000, up from $387,000 last year.

The typical Kamloops homeowner will see an increase in their assessed value of no more than 10 per cent.

The largest increases by neighbourhood came in Sahali, Juniper Ridge, Aberdeen and Dufferin.

Increases to the average assessed values were seen in most of Kamloops’ outlying communities, with the exception of Cache Creek and Chase.

The biggest jump came in the resort municipality of Sun Peaks, which shot up more than $100,000 to $832,000.

Owners who wish to raise concerns about their assigned value must submit an appeal by the end of this month.
