KAMLOOPS — Police have made an arrest after an accident Saturday morning at the intersection of Summit Drive and McGill Road.

The accident happened about 10:30 AM Saturday.

Sgt. Darren Michels says a car and a truck collided at the intersection of Summit Drive and McGill Road around 10:30 a.m.

The driver of the car fled the scene on foot, with a police service dog brought in to find the man but unfortunately they lost track of him.

Later on December 31, members of Kamloops RCMP Detachment located the driver of the black Hyundia Sonata. The 59 year old male was arrested and later released on an appearance notice to attend Kamloops Provincial Court.

The Kamloops RCMP will be recommending charges of prohibited driving and other motor vehicle act charges.  The Sonata was not insured and had a stolen licence plate on it at the time of the accident.

Michels says the driver of the truck was sent to Royal Inland hospital with minor injuries.
