Kamloops’ stealthy wheel thief strikes again

KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops wheel thief has struck again, this time in Dallas.

When Michelle Littke walked out the front door of her Rambler Place home on Wednesday, she found her Ford F150 pickup truck up on blocks, its tires and wheels nowhere to be found.

Littke says the lug nuts were left lying on the driveway.

“No one heard anything in the neighbourhood. My dog didn’t make a sound, and I have a neighbour who works late in the evenings. He was up in his shop until 3:00 a.m. and he didn’t hear anything at all. I’m very surprised this guy hasn’t been caught.”

Littke says, if it’s just one thief who is the culprit in thefts like these, he has been busy.

“I’ve heard of another girl that had one happen a couple of weeks ago here in Dallas, and then another one happened the other night up in Barnhartvale, and then another one up in Juniper. I’m finding information out on the Dallas Neighbourhood Watch site. It’s been a little crazy.”

The thefts are similar to one that took place on West Battle St. in September.

Littke reported this theft to RCMP, and says police are aware of the trend.

“They didn’t say much. He didn’t seem very surprised that it was happening. It seemed like it was very common. So it’s happening throughout the city, so everyone needs to be vigilant to make sure that everything’s locked up and under the lights. Make sure that everything’s secure.”
