KAMLOOPS — The company planning to open a rail service terminal on the former Weyerhaeuser sawmill property says it has begun laying track.

Cando Rail Services says it plans to begin serving customers on the site by next summer.

The Manitoba-based company announced its purchase of the property in January, saying it plans to build a full service terminal on the site.

When it is fully constructed, it is expected to employ between 20 and 50 people, and offer industrial switching, transloading, railcar storage and repair, and track and engineering services.
