Spokane snuffs Blazers win streak

KAMLOOPS — Pavel Kousal had two goals as the Spokane Chiefs beat the Kamloops Blazers 3-2 on Wednesday night.

The Chiefs got off to a good start as Ondrej Najman scored 48 seconds into the game. He beat goaltender Connor Ingram five-hole to give the Chiefs an early 1-0 lead.

Pavel Kousal added to the lead as he found a rebound on the power play and snuck one by Ingram to make it 2-0 Chiefs 9:25 into the game.

The Blazers battled back and got a goal from Rudolfs Balcers. Balcers was at the side of the goal as a partially blocked shot ended up on his stick for an open net and his 15th goal of the season.

The Chiefs made it 3-1 early in the second period as Pavel Kousal finished off a nice play from Keanu Yamamoto.

Garrett Pilon got the Blazers back to within a goal as his shot found its way through a maze of bodies to make it a 3-2 game.

The Blazers did not have the push they needed in the third period as they came up short in a 3-2 loss to the Spokane Chiefs.

The Blazers finished the night 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Chiefs were 1-for-2. The Chiefs outshot the Blazers 28-27 on the night.

The Blazers will play next on Friday, November 25th when they host the Regina Pats. Game time is 7:00pm at the Sandman Centre.
