Pilon paces Blazers in 6-4 win in Spokane

SPOKANE, WA. — Garrett Pilon led the way with a goal and two assists in a 6-4 win in Spokane on Saturday night.

The Blazers were down early in this as the Chiefs scored 3:48 into the game on a power play goal by Ethan McIndoe. Hayden Ostir made it 2-0 Chiefs 11 seconds later on an odd man rush.

There was no panic in the Blazers game as they weathered the storm before scoring midway through the first period on a power play. Nick Chyzowskiscored his ninth goal of the season to cut the Chiefs lead to 2-1.

Spencer Bast tied the game off a rush with 1:18 to play in the first period. Collin Shirley followed that up with a power play goal with just over five seconds left in the period and the Blazers led 3-2 after the first period.

The Blazers followed up the late push with a good start in the second period. Joe Gatenby and Garrett Pilon added goals to give the Blazers a 5-2 lead midway through the game.

The Chiefs never went away and got a goal off a great individual effort from Keanu Yamamoto to make it 5-3 through two periods.

Yamamoto then cut the Blazers lead to 5-4 on a shorthanded breakaway two minutes into the third period.

As the Chiefs were pushing to tie the game, Rudolfs Balcers scored a terrific goal on a great effort for his team leading 14th of the season.

The Blazers held the fort to win their third straight game 6-4 in Spokane. The Blazers improved their record to 14-10-1-0 on the season.

The shot clock was a wacky one as the Chiefs were said to outshot the Blazers 46-22. The Blazers were 3-for-9 on the power play, while the Chiefs finished 1-for-4.

The Blazers are home now for five straight games starting on Wednesday, November 23rd when they host the Spokane Chiefs.
