KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Art Gallery’s board of directors has taken the ‘interim’ tag off of Executive Director Margaret Chrumka’s title, meaning Chrumka will be the long term successor to the late Jann Bailey.

Chrumka was thrust into the role after Bailey’s sudden passing last October.

She says she enjoys being at the helm.

“In doing that job, I realized how much I wanted to carry on as the leader of the gallery; as the executive director. So it’s been a great long ride this past year demonstrating to the board that I had the skills to continue to manage this place and bring it into the future.”

Chrumka says though Bailey left big shoes to fill, she also cleared a path for her successor.

“She was very gracious that I was her second when we worked together. She was an excellent mentor. Enormous shoes to fill when she passed so quickly and so suddenly; it was quite a shock. My whole goal this past year has been to ensure that nobody feels like anything has dramatically changed here or has irrevocably gone sideways.”

“If you haven’t been here before, pop in. This is just a great place to engage with the visual arts.”
