KAMLOOPS — After a 26-point defeat on Friday at the hands of the UBC Thunderbirds, the TRU Wolfpack Women’s Basketball team were handed another loss by the T-Birds on Saturday, by a 58-38 score.

Chelsea Hoey led the way for TRU, scoring 9 points, and snagging 11 rebounds on the night. Wolfpack Head Coach Scott Reeves says his team needs to take better care of the basketball, in order to see success on the floor.

“We’ve gotta handle pressure a whole lot better than we did,” Reeves told CFJC Today. “We turned it over way too much, our shooting percentage wasn’t there, and when you’re not shooting well, and turning it over a lot, you’re gonna see lopsided victories, like you did there.”

The TRU Men’s Basketball squad fared better on Saturday, after taking a beating from UBC, 96-60 on Friday. The ‘Pack led Saturdays game by six points at the half but were outscored 30-13 in the 3rd Quarter, en route to a 78-67 loss.

Derek Rhodes dropped 20 points for the ‘Pack, while Volodymyr Iegorov added 18.

Men’s Head Coach Scott Clark said there’s still plenty of room for improvement for his group.

“It’s the same cliché,” Clark explained. “We need to get better… The focus has to be on our performance, on things that are under our control… Our level of execution, offensively and defensively, especially in pressure situations, needs to get better.”

Both Wolfpack Basketball teams travel to Manitoba next weekend, where they’ll take on the University of Manitoba Bisons.
