Blazers dull Blades 5-1

KAMLOOPS — The Blazers got two goals and an assist from 19-year-old import Rudolfs Balcers in a 5-1 home ice win over the Saskatoon Blades on Friday night.

Deven Sideroff scored the game’s first goal 1:14 into the game. He used his speed and went wide around a defender before slipping a puck past goaltender Logan Flodell for a 1-0 lead.

Mason McCarty tied the game up as his shot beat goaltender Connor Ingram on the glove side 7:42into the period.

The Blazers  turned it on as Rudolfs Balcers gave the Blazers the lead. He took a great feed fromDeven Sideroff and one-timed home his fourth goal of the season.

Balcers gave the Blazers a 3-1 lead on another terrific feed as Spencer Bast made a great pass and Balcers pounded home his fifth of the season.

The Blazers built on the lead late in the second period. Ondrej Vala’s shot deflected off a stick and past Flodell for his third of the season.

Spencer Bast rounded out the scoring in the third period with a backhand shot for a 5-1 final for the Blazers.

Deven Sideroff finished the night with a goal and two assists, while Spencer Bast and Ondrej Valaeach had multi-point nights with a goal and an assist apiece. Shaun Dosanjh pitched in with two assists.

The Blazers got good goaltending from Connor Ingram on the night as he stopped 28 of 29 shots. Logan Flodell stopped 24 of 29 shots on the night.

Both teams finished the night 0-for-6 on the power play, while shots on goal were tied 29-29 on the night.

The Blazers are back home Saturday night as they host the Tri-City Americans. Game time is 7:00pm at the Sandman Centre.
