KAMLOOPS — BC Green Party members have acclaimed Dan Hines as their candidate in Kamloops-North Thompson.

Hines’ candidacy was confirmed this morning in a news conference.

Hines is an Anglican priest and founding member of the RareBirds Housing Co-operative, and says his background also includes small business ownership, contracting, management and university instruction.

Supporters include longtime Kamloops educator Chris Rose, who called Hines, “a leader who in his words strives to create a more just, compassionate and healthy world.”

The race to succeed Terry Lake as Kamloops-North Thompson MLA now includes Hines, Barb Nederpel of the BC NDP, and Peter Kerek of the Communist Party.

The BC Liberals are going through a nomination contest, with North Shore Business Improvement Association Executive Director Steven Puhallo, Kamloops Mayor Peter Milobar, and developer Michael Grenier all seeking the nomination.
