KAMLOOPS — A Florida State volleyball player is the latest athlete to follow the Colin Kaepernick lead, and choose not to stand during the national anthem —- a protest to draw attention to oppression of minorities.

Jermaine Loewen, who plays for the Kamloops Blazers, says as a minority he doesn’t see the issue as pronounced in Canada as it is in the U.S., and feels those who protest have the right to do so, but should not let it affect their identity, or who they are as a person.
