Rafter found dead after desperate search near Alexis Creek

WILLIAMS LAKE — One man is dead after a rafting accident on the Chilcotin River west of Williams Lake.

RCMP say they were alerted last night that two men were overdue to arrive in the Farwell Canyon area, after setting out from Bull Canyon Recreation Site earlier that day.

Search crews set out to scour the river for the two, and this morning, found one the men dead on the north side of the river.

Police say he was not far from Alexis Creek.

The second man was located alive, separated from the first.
