KAMLOOPS — The first week of school has wrapped up, but the year is just beginning, and ICBC, the Kamloops RCMP, and Transportation Minister Todd Stone are reminding drivers to slow down through school zones.

Minister Stone and others were along Summit Drive on Friday morning,  in front of South Sahali Elementary, speaking to the importance of reducing your speed to 30 kilometers an hour through school zones to keep children safe.

September also marks distracted driving month. In the Southern Interior, there are 31 accidents involving distracted drivers every year, and ICBC wants that number to drop significantly.
