KAMLOOPS — A 100 Mile House councillor is calling on all teams in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League to chip in to cover travel costs for the team that wins the league and then qualifies for the Western Canadian Championship.

Last springs KIJHL champions, the 100 Mile House Wranglers, spent $30,000 to travel to the Western Championship, the Keystone Cup.

100 Mile House councillor Dave Mingo wants each of the other teams in the league to put $500 into a travel fund.

Several teams, including the Kamloops Storm, have rejected the idea.
