KAMLOOPS — With the September just around the corner, students young and old will be coming back to Thompson Rivers University campus, ready for another year of post-secondary education.

But with that education comes costs – and today, the TRU Students Union announced a campaign to help lower some of those costs for students. Representatives from TRUSU are urging the university to create and adopt open textbooks, which are free for students, which could help the students save up to $1000 or more, each semester.

“It costs a student $100 to $250 per class… on just a text book, on top of tuition,” TRUSU Student Caucus Chair Michael Sam Zaitlin explained. “We’re trying to lower studen’t tuition in a way we can do it, because dealing with actual tuition [fees] is impossible.”
