KAMLOOPS — Despite the fact it’s still August, Operation Christmas Child has kicked off their 2016 campaign. They were at the Kamloops Farmers Market on Saturday.

The group was handing out boxes for donations. Operation Christmas Child collects small items like school supplies, toothbrushes, as well as small toys and gifts to children in need around the world. The filled shoeboxes will be collected in November, before being sent around the globe.

Hallie MacDonald, the Logistics Coordinator for Operation Christmas Child hopes the people of Kamloops can improve their participation in the campaign this year. “Last year we collected over 2500 boxes [in Kamloops], and we hope we get 3000 this year.”
