KAMLOOPS — The Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association is preparing for a major fundraiser this weekend.

The DASH to Make a Difference event takes place this Saturday, Aug 20. The fundraiser is an Amazing Race style challenge around the city.

Last year’s event raised $10,000 and in its seventh year the association is hoping this year will also be a big success.

Special Events Coordinator, Chantal Cadorette says money raised during the fundraiser will help expand programs offered by the Kamloops Therapeutic Riding Association.

“With our regular sessions we have a spring and a fall session for our riders and with funding … we are able to add on extra days,” Cadorette said. “So this coming fall session we’re actually adding a day on to Saturday and Friday, whereas before we only had lessons from Monday to Thursday, so it’s expanding options like that. It also enable us to have more horses, bring more therapy horses in so we can accept more riders in as well.”
