KAMLOOPS —  It’s the first step forward to restarting the timeline for the environmental review of the KGHM-Ajax Copper Mine proposal.

Ajax has now provided some initial answers to questions from various groups regarding its application for the mine.

The company hasn’t made their responses public, but in a news statement yesterday, the company says it has sent the responses to members of the working group to evaluate. The questions about the application came from government and other experts, including SLR Consulting, which was hired by the City to look at the Ajax application.

KGHM-Ajax says in the statement the Ajax Project team has been busy over the last several weeks preparing responses to more than 2,700 comments and questions submitted by the working group.

The company says it’s not the end of a process, but the continuation of it. They say they expect the working group and SLR consulting will have further questions to pose once they’ve had a chance to look at the initial responses.

The release says the company team is continuing its work of responding to more than 2,000 questions and comments submittred by the public in the 75-day public comment period that concluded in the spring.

The statement from KGHM says it anticipates restarting the 180 day timeline for the environmental review sometime this fall.
