Serious accident closes Yellowhead Highway south of Barriere

BARRIERE, B.C. — A serious accident has closed the Yellowhead Highway in both directions, just south of Barriere.
Multiple emergency crews were called to the area just after 2:30pm.
BC Ambulance reports six patients were transported from the scene, one in critical condition and 5 in stable condition.
Traffic is backed up substantially in the area.
Drive BC estimates the highway could re-open at 7pm.
