Victoria police say four officers were injured Thursday evening while intervening in a domestic dispute at the controversial “tent city” outside the city’s courthouse.

Police say just after 7:20 p.m., two special duty officers heard what they believed to be a domestic assault in a tent that is part of an encampment of about 100 homeless people that has been up since last fall.

When the officers tried to intervene, they were assaulted by a “highly combative man.”

Two officers who arrived at the scene were also assaulted and the man was taken into custody after he was subdued with a stun gun.
