Final Tragically Hip concert screenings planned in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS — Music lovers will get one last chance to see the Tragically Hip in concert with a live screening of their final show from Kingston, Ontario. 

The North Shore Business Improvement Association is working in conjunction with the Canadian Cancer Society to screen the conert in two outdoor locations in Kamloops. 

NSBIA Executive Director Steve Puhallo says the event is scheduled to take place as a part of Overlanders Day on August 20. 

“We are doing this in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society, their local office. The event is absolutly free for everyone. The CBC is doing the rights without any charge, and The Hip is partnering with them.” explained Puhallo. 

There will be an opportunity to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society during the screenings.

Puhallo says the family friendly event will take place at McDonald Park, while a second location at Riverside Park will host a beer garden. 

The Tragically Hip began promoting their final tour after the May 24 announcement that frontman Gord Downie had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.
