KAMLOOPS — Provincial forestry officials are warning that the gloomy, drizzly weather shouldn’t result in a false sense of security.

Fire Information Officer Rachel Witt says there are still many pockets of the Kamloops Fire Centre where the danger rating is high.

Meantime, Witt says the fires of note are all quiet right now.

“The Tunkwa Lake fire is now in the patrol stage, so we have no crews on it currently,” said Witt. “The Kumsheen fire in the Lillooet zone is also in patrol. We have 12 firefighters currently on that fire. As well, the Garrison fire in the Merritt zone is in mop-up stage. We have 20 firefighters and one piece of heavy equipment on that fire.”
